Ranking Woody Allen

After catching the Woody Allen Documentary on PBS a couple of weeks ago (It's available to stream within the US on their website and it heads to DVD for a limited time in February), I made it a mission to revisit Woody's Film Canon, in the order they were released. I fizzled out a bit during his lesser fare in the early to mid 2000s, but I was surprised to find that I loved some of his Films now more than ever (Small Time Crooks, Manhattan Murder Mystery) while others that I once really liked have lost some of their luster (Interiors, Alice)...

Check out the Documentary if you can. It was very well done and an informing glimpse into the inner workings of a Film Director. It was fun to draw parallels to Woody's upbringing in New York to my own. His real home was at the Cinema, and I can totally relate.

Here are his Films, in the order I like 'em...

Play It Again, Sam (Actor/Writer) (1972)
Hannah And Her Sisters (1986)

Crimes And Misdemeanors (1989)

Woody Allen is currently our most prolific American Filmmaker. Now in his mid 70s, he's still making the occasional wonderful Film, and has scored his biggest hit with the charming Midnight In Paris. Here's to all his future Films to come!
