Body Switching Movies Monday

Why are body switching movies so fun? I suppose we all think about what it would be like to inhabit someone for a day or two... And I mean that in the strictest PG sense!  A lot of them seemed to come our way in the late eighties, which I would now dub as The Body Switch Movie Golden Era of 1988-1989.. And I can't forget to mention, that was also the exact time when Quantum Leap made it's TV Debut.

I purposely left off titles that involve time travel like Back To The Future or Peggy Sue Got Married because those really are their own thing. And I happen to think that the original Freaky Friday from 1976 is probably the Citizen Kane of all these movies. It's pure fun, and Barbara Harris is so fun to watch in this. Love her.

Here's a visual list of some of the most popular films of the Body Switch genre, as well as some other favorites and present day offerings.

The 80's Switch

The Creepy Switch

The Divine Switch

The Modern Switch (1990-present)

And what body switch movie post would be without a mention of the 1987 Disney TV Movie Double Switch which finds nerdy George Newbern trying to win Elisabeth Shue's heart by switching places with "Rock Star" George Newbern (who longs for a normal life) for a week. Enjoy!

Coming Soon: The Tootsie Syndrome!

Great collection here....
I can't decide which mind -switching movie I like better -- Vice Versa, or Like Father, Like Son.

I personally give the edge to Like Father, Like Son.

I think the songs by Autograph and of course "Everybody Have Fun Tonight" by Wang Chung put it over the top.

I miss Dudley Moore movies.

I too miss Dudley more movies, not BEST DEFENSE however.
Great post sir! I thought I had a pretty comprehensive knowledge of switch films, but somehow I think IDENTITY CRISIS slipped by me! Must track down!

Ah, Best Defense. I remember seeing that in a theater and people actually threw stuff at the screen!

I believe Identity Crisis in on DVD.
