Oh cripes, you're making this rough! Ummm...Jamie Lee, Jill Schoelen(Now,THAT'S a beautiful woman!),Heather Langencamp (I actually used to watch "Just The Ten Of us" just for her) but where's my Amy Steel and Nancy Kyes Loomis?!
I love Adrienne Barbeau in "The Fog" though, sexy, maternal and THAT VOICE!

Rob-
I debated Amy Steel but her horror creds are minimal. I'm kind of surprised she's only made 2. She is one of the best Final girls ever, though.

Thanks guys!

I got to meet Barbara Crampton at a convention a few years ago, and she was gracious and approachable and still gorgeous. The way she answered my questions without mentioning my stammering and uncontrollable drooling was an exercise in CLASS. :)

My List: (not 100% positive about the order, but I need to get to bed. At least some forgotten ladies are getting a bit o' love,here...)

1.Cliched yes,but I gotta go with Jamie Lee,Activia commercials aside.Halloween, sure, but also Prom Night,Terror Train, and The Fog showcase this lady's acting (and shrieking) talents.Add an extra point for her shit-tastic return to the Halloween franchise with H20,then deduct one for compounding a felony by portraying Laurie as a hot mess of a mental patient in "Resurrection".

2. Jill Schoelen-This smoky-voiced sex kitten booked some serious horror work in the mid -to -late 80s and early 90s-Stepfather,Curse 2:The Bite,Cutting Class,Phantom Of The Opera (with Robert Englund), Popcorn...They weren't all great,or even good.. but Jill made them
watchable.

3. Mary Woronov-an icy beauty in her youth, now a stately, regal lady (thankfully) still on the horror Bandwagon, and willing to play the creepy old crone. Her roles in "Comet" and the more recent House Of The Devil sealed this one for me.

4. Karen Black-Trilogy Of Terror,Invaders From Mars('86),Mirror Mirror,House of 1000 Corpses(movie sucks,but love Mother Firefly)..Karen may deny her horror roots,but she's still among the best.Eerie...and strangely alluring,too.

5.Gaylen Ross- The character of Fran in Romero's original Dawn Of The Dead and hapless-but-caring counselor Betsy in Madman,(who can forget the "Madman whirling hot tub scene"-no matter how much you might try ?)The lady's fantastic. An unconventional look, with decent acting chops.

6.Kelli Maroney-Chopping Mall and Night Of The Comet are two of the 80s' greatest, and Kelli tackles roles both with aplomb. Big hair, even bigger attitude, and killer aim to boot. She even has a nerdy thing going on in "Mall",lusting after geek Ferdie.

7.Elisabeth Shue-though not technically a horror actress,this babe's work in Link, pseudo-freaky Hollowman,(extra points for chemistry with Josh Brolin of Goonies fame) 2010's Piranha 3-D makes her a top contender.She's scared,she's vulnerable,she's tough,she's sexy.Yum.

8.Caroline Munro-No great shakes in the acting dept, but lovely and with true presence..plus starring in flix like Maniac and Slaughter High, how can you go wrong?

9.Shawnee Smith-adorable 80s cheerleader caught up in a sci-fi nightmare, (The Blob)to reformed drug addict and conflicted, psychotic serial killer's accomplice (Saw series)..Shawnee can act,and looks good doing it,too.

10.Hate to put my girl Dana (Kimmell) at the bottom, but she only has one mentionable credit to date-that of Chris Higgins in Friday The 13th.Stylish,(check out that personalized van!)sassy,paranoid...and surprisingly,a rough-and tumbler. This girl gives bumpy-headed Jason a run for his money, slaps around fat pranksters, and holds the dubious distinction of being the only F13th Final Girl raped (maybe) by our forest-dwelling mass murderer.I'll even ignore the whole "Mormon thing" and replace it with her legendary police car freakout for additional kudos.

Thanks,Meep...

And let it be known that I am actually a "Chris",(no,no weird gender identity crisis, and no,I don't use the name "Carly" for my Saturday nite dancing gig)..I was only able to leave a comment with my wife's email address,as mine is out of commission.

Your blog is officially bookmarked,I love it.

Great list, Meep, both this and part 2. Jamie Lee Curtis, Janet Leigh, Margot Kidder, P.J. Soles, and Dee Wallace would definitely make my Scream Queen Short List!

Where is Jamie Lee Curtis' mom Janet Leigh? She's our number one Scream Queen.
