DVD Evaders: Brewster Mccloud (1970)

You would think that the combination of auteur Robert Altman and the weirdness of cult actor Bud Cort would be enough to fuel some DVD fire for BREWSTER MCCLOUD, but sadly, this is not the case.

Like quite a few Altman pictures, BREWSTER is a one of a kind movie. You can say it's about a young man who dreams of being as a bird and flys around the houston astrodome, occasionally meeting some equally odd folk, but i'd rather not define the movie so easily. Within the wackiness of him flying around or the series of murders that start popping which link our hero to them, there's a biting satire underneath. The movie has a lot to say while being so caught up in the absurd.

This was Shelley Duvall's first film. She's oddly sexy in it, dontcha think?

Released in 1970, and overshadowed by Altman's hit MASH, I think it's about time BREWSTER finally gets another shot at flying into home video.
