Movie Show House Love: Paste Magazine.com's Best Movie Houses In America
Special thanks to Amanda By Night of Made For TV Mayhem for sending me the link to this neat little article about some great places to watch film across this country: THE BEST MOVIE HOUSES IN AMERICA Being A New Yorker, I can vouch for the long-lasting credibility of The Film Forum (Though the really long lines and comfort level is a bit of an endurance test) and in the last few years The IFC has become a nice mainstay for showing films that wouldn't ordinarily get the chance to flicker up on the screen. Now if only we can get more movie show houses that cater to our favorite treats of past and less soulless & gross Multiplexes New York will be the force to reckon with it once was. I would also like to add to this list: The Brooklyn Academy Of Music's BAMcinematek Downtown Brooklyn, NY. Often shows works by great directors and the occasional fun cult film in a well kept and atmospheric theater space. And special kudos to City Cinema's Village East 2nd Ave & 12th St NYC as they are one of the last theaters left in New York City to actually use real letters for their marquee. A small pleasure, but one really appreciated by me in this digital world.
